Max's Race Report

Max Chilton enjoyed a confidence boosting race at the ABC Suppy 500 at Pocono Raceway on the fondly named “Tricky Triangle”.  On his first visit to the track, starting from 17th, he finished P13 as the highest placed rookie. Speaking after the race, Chilton commented:

“I’m happy since that was my very first experience racing on the Tricky Triangle. That 500 miles seemed a lot longer than the Indianapolis 500 for some reason. I think we learned a lot though. We got through the whole race without incident as well. There was a lot of adjusting going on with the cars with the wind being a big factor. You constantly had to be adapting to the track and conditions. The last run was really close with all the cars packed back up and going for it. We started 18th and moved up in the race to 13th so that was good progress. I also learned a lot so I’m happy with the result for the Gallagher team in our first race here.”

Following a brief trip to the UK between races, Max heads back to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend where the Teams pick up where they left off.  The Firestone 600 at Fort Worth was abandoned earlier this year after just 71 laps of the 248 lap race due to heavy rain. A race must complete half of its scheduled distance to be considered official, therefore it was agreed the event would be run again as a night race on August 27th with the drivers starting from where they stopped. This unique situation will be a welcome relief to fans at TMS who missed out on seeing a result back in June.
