GRAND PRIX OF ST. PETERSBURG
Max's Race Report
Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg
March 13, 2016
Max Chilton successfully completed his first Verizon IndyCar race at the weekend in St. Petersburg finishing P16 in his Chevrolet. The day could have been even better for the rookie Brit but overheating issues in the #8 Chip Ganassi machine resulted in unplanned stops that put to bed the chance of a top 10 finish in his first race outing. Despite this, the signs are good for the rest of the season and Max was right on the pace throughout the 110 lap race.
Max Chilton, No. 8 Gallagher Chevrolet: “It looked like a very promising day from the start for the Gallagher team as we were doing the same lap times as the majority of the cars around us. We were working our way forward and up to around P10 when we had an overheating problem. We had to make a long stop to clean out the radiator and get the temps back down, and then another final stop to address the same issue.”
Next up is the Phoenix Grand Prix on the 2nd April. This will be the first time IndyCar has raced on the famous oval since 2005. The lights will go out for the start of the race at 18:15 local time.
