COUNTDOWN TO THE INDY 500
COUNTDOWN TO THE 100TH INDY 500 AFTER “MONTH OF MAY” OPENER AT ANGIE’S LIST GRAND PRIX OF INDIANAPOLIS
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway got the “Month of May” action going with the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis last weekend, contested on the road course rather than the famous oval, the race gave fans a chance to see the cars navigate the winding infield before the track opens up to the 2.5 mile oval at the end of the month to host the 100th running of the Indy 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil, with a record crowds expected.
With additional drivers scheduled to race both the Indy 500 and the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis there was a 25 car grid on Saturday further adding to the spectacle. Max, in his #8 Gallagher Chevrolet finished P14 to round out a tough weekend. Commenting after the race, Max said:
“It was a pretty frustrating race for the Gallagher team today. We got the car handling where we wanted it but when we got around other cars it just went off. We were around sixth or seventh and we ended up dropping to around P20. We did get to P14 but we need to get the car better when we need it at the start of the stint. I’m sure we’ll continue to work on that and I look forward to getting where we need to be.”
The focus now turns to the big one, the Indy 500 which gets underway at 11:00 EST on May 29th.
“I’ve never been to the Indy 500 so to be here for the month of May and feel the excitement around it is incredible”. Said Chilton. He continued: “You really do get a sense of what a big occasion this is for all the fans, drivers and teams. We’re all looking forward to the 100th running of the Indy 500″.Back
